OK, I just have to share an interview experience I just had. It was at the U of U neuropsychiatric hospital. I was kind of really excited for it, because y'all know me, I like the whole psychology aspect of nutrition. So I get there right at 10 (when my interview was supposed to start), problem is, I'm on the wrong side of the building, I have no idea where the front desk is, and I have to go to the bathroom and get a drink of water. I finally find the front desk, but I decide that I'll survive without the bathroom or a drink. So I meet the interviewer and he's super nice but my mouth is sooooo dry. Dry like I've just finished a 10 mile hike without water. Dry like as in my lips are kind of sticking together. Then I was getting all nervous about that and then you know when you're nervous and you kind of stop being able to breath right? I was breathing in the middle of sentences and taking big ol' breaks to gasp in some air. Poor interviewer probably thought I was going to pass out. Come to find out they want someone with more experience (come on, I did an internship), so I'm not even being considered as a candidate, but either way, I don't think that was the best interview I've ever had. For my next interview, I'll make sure that I've taken a drink of water before I go in.

It is a funny story reading it, but I'm sure it wasn't so great experiencing it. Well at least you learned something from it.

Hey at least you had an interview. That is probably better than a lot of the rest of us!! I can't even find any jobs to apply to let along get an interview. Good luck. I miss you, I wish I could of heard you tell that story in person!!

We all have those "fun" experiences to give us "character" as my Mom would put it. So just laugh it off, like you did, and realize it's one more fun experience you have to tell about. ReplyDeleteWay to get an interview! I'm with Lucy and am not having much luck finding a job :( Everyone I talk to tells me I need more experience too! But how the heck am I supposed to get experience if no one will hire me???!!!
ReplyDeleteI love you Maryanne!! They are fools not to consider you! BTW: I loved the visual of the dry sticky lips smacking together with the crazy breathing, it sounds like one of those scary old people that I like to run from.
